Irving Singer is engaged in several areas of research: 1) In fall 2000 MIT published a paperback edition of his book Reality Transformed: Film as Meaning and Technique, hardcover edition, 1998. 2) His book George Santayana, Literary Philosopher was also published in fall 2000 (by Yale University Press). 3) In 1998 the paperback edition of the last volume of his Meaning in Life trilogy appeared. This third volume, The Harmony of Nature and Spirit, was published in 1996 by The Johns Hopkins University Press together with a new edition (including a new preface) of the first volume, The Creation of Value. The second volume, The Pursuit of Love, was published by The Johns Hopkins University Press in 1994. 4) Three new books of his will be brought out in 2001 by Rowman and Littlefield. They are entitled: Feeling and Imagination: The Vibrant Flux of Our Existence; Sex: A Philosophical Primer; and Explorations in Love and Sex. 5) He is currently working on a sequel to his film book, and on a book that deals with philosophical issues in literature and in opera.
