Prof. José Maria Peiró has been elected a Fellow
member of this prestigious Society. New Orleans (USA)

During the opening ceremony of the 24th Congress of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, held on the 2nd of April in New Orleans (USA), Prof. José Maria Peiró has been elected a Fellow member of this prestigious Society. The Committee has agreed on his nomination, stating that "he has played an important role in the development of relations between the European Community of Work and Organizational Psychologists and SIOP. He was a president of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP).

Currently, he coordinates a Program on Work and Organizational Psychology, carried out by five European universities. He has participated in the development and establishment of the certification program of Psychologists in Europe (Europsy). He is a prolific academic whose main research interests have covered work-related stress, expending its scope by making important contributions to other areas, such as analysis of organizational climate from multilevel perspective, psychological contract, diadic relationship between leaders and their followers, virtual teams and relationships between contact employees and their customers. He founded a Research Unit of Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Valencia 25 years ago."

In addition, Prof. Peiró, as a president of the Division 1 (Organisational Psychology) of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP), has signed a cooperation agreement with the president of the EAWOP (Prof. Franco Fracaroli) and president of SIOP (Prof. Gary Latham) to promote our discipline and its benefits to society in a global context.
