Minimal Pairs

Minimal pairs

/tʃ/ Voiceless palato-alveolar affricate. vs. /dʒ/ Voiced palato-alveolar affricate.

Example "cheep" /tʃi:p/  vs. "jeep" /dʒi:p/

For Spanish speakers it is problematic because /tʃ/ exists as a phoneme in Spanish but not /dʒ/. For Valencian speakers the /dʒ/ is similar to the first consonant sound in Generalitat.
