CIDEC provides specialized information and advice to researchers, teachers, professionals of the sector, students and other people interested in the field of the Social Economy, especially on agricultural cooperatives, associated work cooperatives, labour societies, voluntary and non-profit organizations, foundations and the associative movement, as well as employment topics, social services, public policies and rural tourism.

About CIDEC

CIDEC -Centre of European Information and Documentation on Public, Social and Cooperative Economy- is a documentation centre attached to IUDESCOOP (University Institute of Social and Cooperative Economy), at the University of Valencia, and the scientific association CIRIEC-Spain.

CIDEC’s main function is to support research and professional training in the field of social economy and the cooperative movement by providing specialised information and advice to researchers, teachers, professionals in the sector, students and other people interested in social economy, particularly with regard to associated work cooperatives, farming cooperatives, labour societies, voluntary non-profit organisations and the associative movement, together with employment issues, social services, public policies and rural tourism.

CIDEC undertakes documentation and information activities (library or otherwise) as well as searching for, locating and accessing documentation related to the fields of Social, Public and Cooperative Economy. In order to achieve this, CIDEC processes and stores articles from both national and international journals concerned with social, cooperative and public economy in a series of databases located in the documentation centre.

The Journal CIDEC News (Public, Social and Cooperative Economy News) has been jointly published since 1991, by CIDEC and CIRIEC-Spain on a four-monthly basis and is sponsored by the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Regional Government). CIDEC also collaborates in all CIRIEC-Spain publications.
