The guerrilla legacy
is a photographic documentary project featuring the last
guerrilla fighters, those working in liaison, their
support personnel and their families. This photographic
exhibition is intended to illustrate the reality of a
group of people who have either fallen into oblivion or
have been unfairly treated. Their stories and lives are
inevitably part of Spanish history, hence their right to
be acknowledged. This ambitious project brings together
60 individuals and their families from Spain’s different
guerrilla groups. |

The photographs were taken at the homes
of the portrayed (they are all fairly old and cannot
travel easily), which meant travelling almost 24,000Km
with a lighting set. This difficult transfer brought out
an added value and contributed to creating greater
intimacy in the photographic act (differences between
shooting at the studio or at home are obvious). For all
such reasons, and thanks to the hard work done by
historians and associations, the feature has become a
unique photographic project and one of the most relevant
references in the area (photographically speaking).
Never ever had something like it been done before. And
it will not be done again (time is inevitably running,
they are all leaving us). In sum, this comprehensive
photographic work has been carefully addressed by the
author, Juan Plasencia, a photographer with many years’
experience in this social genre who has made important
contributions.
The exhibition has been organised by the
cultural association Ateneo Republicano of
Paterna and the Plataforma per la III república
of Burjassot, with funds provided by the Ministry for
the Presidency. |
