The research institutes are conceived as multi-disciplinary research structures beyond the framework of the departments, and they are meaningful as far as they are better prepared to meet the demand of the economic and social context.

With specific agreements with CSIC, Universitat de València participates in the Institute of History of Science López Piñero, the Institute of Corpuscular Physics, the Centre for Desertification Research, the Institute of Agro-chemistry and Food Technology, and the Biomedical Institute.
