Student guidance and support

The Student Guidance and Support Centre (CADE) offer a number of advice services andcade specific help and support for students to improve their quality of life in Universitat de València. In addition, it acts as an adviser in academic and personal conflicts with the students. The services focus on quality-related aspects and personal development during their education in Universitat de València. They are free of charge for Universitat students and emphasis is placed on the resolution of personal problems. To use the service, an appointment must be arranged.

University Guidance for Disabled Students

guidance for disabledIt provides support to disabled students, trying to ensure equality with the rest of students. This unit sees to it that these people are integrated in Universitat in all aspects relative to academic life. In this regard, it provides guidance, follows up, and assesses disabled students, supporting them in the enrolment process, exams, adapting their curriculum, and supplying the necessary equipment. This service is supported by the General Foundation and undertakes the projects of the recently created Delegation of the Integration of the Disabled through its student section.

Advice is provided on any type of psychological problem or conflict, lack of satisfaction, distress, family, education, work problems, and sexual matters.

Student aid and support programmes

- Education Grant call and grant call for students from developing countries (0.7 Programme). These grants are offered to Universitat de València students with a low income.

- Grant call for disabled students with special travelling needs. The grants are given to disabled students with special difficulties in getting to college from their homes.

- Travel grant call. The grants are for academic activities such as seminars, courses, summer courses, conferences, meetings, and other education-related events.

- Drac mobility programme (Drac summer and Drac advanced education). The university network Institut Joan Lluís Vives (IJLV) fosters student exchanges between DRAC universities. Via CADE, Universitat de València backs the exchanges in the form of public grants.

- Accommodation database. Information on rented accommodation and student-shared flats.

 

Universia classroom

The Universia classroom is a free-admission Internet-surfing space for Universitat deuniversia classroom València students. The classroom was made possible on the basis of cooperation between the Universia Portal and Compaq. It aims to promote access and training on the new information and communication technologies and create a technological platform for surfing the internet. It has a continuous offer of introductory courses on the uses of the Internet and the new information and communication technologies, which complements the existing computer rooms, and the mixed and free access facilities at the different centres and campuses.

 

Participation in Universitat: partnership and voluntary work

Through the Student Guidance and Promotion Centre (CADE), Universitat de València studentspromotes the students’ cultural and social participation in university. CADE’s goal is to favour and foster associationism and voluntary work. To that end, it provides guidance and support for the creation and management of student associations and collectives.

Associations and collectives register of Universitat de València

CADE runs a register of Universitat de València student associations and collectives as a way of determining the existing student association fabric and keeping the registered associations and collectives informed.

Associations hotel

Equipped with basic infrastructures and computer resources, these premises can be used by all the Universitat de València associations and collectives registered with CADE. Students willing to use the facilities shall produce proof of being a member in an association. Bookings can be made at CADE.

Grants for student associations and collectives

- Grant call for student associations and collectives for socio-cultural projects.

- Grant call for student associations and collectives represented in the University Council.

- Grant call for student associations, collectives, and Development NGOs for solidarity and cooperation projects.

- Grant call for student associations and collectives for socio-cultural projects during the Welcome Week.

Voluntary work programmes

- Volunteer training programme. With a view to facilitating voluntary work among students and encouraging them to join associations and NGOs, this programme is organised during the first term. Fore more information, see www.uv.es/cade.

- Taking voluntary work to the practice. Voluntary work can also be done within Universitat:

• Cultural volunteers. Work is done in cultural activities organised at La Nau building. For more information, see www.uv.es/cade.prestige volunteers

• Environmental volunteers. Volunteer work groups are organised. They work on environmental education, understanding nature, an environmental portal, and preparing botanic routes. • Language volunteers. The Language Policy Service fosters the training of volunteers to build a support network for the activities related to the use of Valencian.  For more information, call 96 393 71 60 or see www.uv.es/spl

• Sports volunteers. The Physical Education and Sports Service recruits volunteers to work in sporting events held during the academic year. For information, please call 96 398 32 36.

• United Nations volunteers. These volunteers take part in a programme for the implemetation of new technologies in developing countries aimed at overcoming the digital gap. For more information, see www.uv.es/cade.

Training on participation

Within the training space of Nau dels Estudiants, CADE offers to university associations and university volunteers courses on association-related matters such as service management, activity organisation, and communication and economic administration tools.

 

 

Welcome Week

This scheme fosters the knowledge of Universitat as a space for cultural participation by organising numerous events aimed at disseminating information on the activities and cultural facilities of Universitat. A cultural and socio-cultural activity week is organised to introduce students to university life and promote student participation in the extra-academic activities programmed by Universitat de València. It is organised at the end of October by the Students Delegation, through CADE. It is indeed a good opportunity to meet other students and enjoy university life.

 

Universitat Friends and Former Students

Friends and Former Students is a General Foundation programme targeted at those willing to keep in touch with Universitat and benefit from services and advantages such as:

- Universitat library card.

- Receiving the research magazine Mètode and the Nou Dise weekly.

- Participation in the Cultural Volunteers programme.

- Special ADESLAS rates for school insurance.

friends- Discounts for the sports hall, Universitat publications, university extension and General Foundation courses, Language Centre courses, Nau dels Estudiants, Nau dels Xiquets i les Xiquetes, La Nau Choir School, etc.

Friends and Former Students can receive ongoing information on the cultural and educational supply of Universitat.
