PARASITOLOGY WORLD PHILATELIC EXHIBIT

 

Dr. Fred H.M. Borgsteede (Lelystad, The Netherlands), owner of the most complete postal stamp collection related to parasitological topics, has kindly agreed to show a selection of stamps from countries throughout the world at the occasion of the EMOP IX in Valencia.

In an exhibit stand especially dedicated to this purpose, a total of 353 stamps will be exposed in the meeting venue of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Valencia during all congress days.

The selection of stamps include the following topics:

 

PROTOZOA:

1) Malaria (227 stamps): including Life cycle, Environment, Plasmodium, Control (breaking cycle), Mosquito control, Drying swampy areas, Killing mosquitoes, Prevention, Medicine, Education, Famous malaria-researchers (Laveran, Ross, Bordet, Grassi and others), Important congresses, WHO-Campaign, and Post-marks.

2) Trypanosoma (14 stamps): including Tsetse flies, Trypanosomes in blood, Sick person, Chagas disease, Veterinary trypanosomosis, and Important investigators

3) Leishmania (4 stamps): including Cycle, Adler, Vaccine, and Vianna.

4) Babesia (5 stamps): including Cycle and Babesia.

5) Giardia (5 stamps)

6) Theileria (1 stamp): Theiler.

 

HELMINTHS:

7) Trematodes (4 stamps): including Liver fluke, Bilharz, Piraja da Silva, and Congress.

8) Cestodes (2 stamps): Echinococcosis.

9) Nematodes (21 stamps): including River blindness, Guinea worm, Other nematodes, Medicinal plants, and Important researchers.

10) Ticks (10 stamps)

11) Mites (2 stamps)

12) Insects (3 stamps)

13) Treatment of ectoparasites (1 stamp)
