EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF PARASITOLOGISTS (EFP)
The European Federation of Parasitologists was founded on November, 14, 1966 in Jablonna, Poland. The initiator of the European Federation was Professor Witold Stefanski, well-known Polish parasitologist and director of the Institute of Parasitology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
The aim of the Federation is:

to promote the exchange of knowledge and co-ordination of research related to parasitic organisms in Europe; |
|
|
to consider and promote the problems of basic, veterinary and medical parasitology; |
|
|
to hold conferences in various European countries at regular intervals. |
So far, the Federation has organised eight European Multicolloquia:
1.- Rennes, France, 1-4 September 1971
2.- Trogir, Yugoslavia, 1-6 September 1975
3.- Cambridge, UK, 7-13 September 1980
4.- Izmir, Turkey, 14-19 October 1984
5.- Budapest, Hungary, 4-9 September 1988
6.- The Hague, The Netherlands, 7-11 September 1992
7.- Parma, Italy, 2-6 September 1996
8.- Poznan, Poland, 10-14 September 2000
Today the Federation has 28 member Societies, representing over 6,000 parasitologists, all over Europe.
