Application for scholars

A scholar is an academic and/or professional of outstanding experience who carries out teaching or research assignments and scholarly work in the institutions participating in the WOP-P programme. Erasmus Mundus scholarships allow third-country scholars to perform the tasks defined by the consortium during their stay of up to three months.

Who is a third-country scholar.

In accordance with the criteria of the European Union,

"Third-country scholar means a national coming from all countries other than the 27 EU Member States, the EEA-EFTA states (Island, Liechtenstein and Norway) and the candidate countries for accession to the EU (presently Croatia, Turkey and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia); who is not a resident of any of the Member States or the participating countries; who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries; and who has outstanding academic and/or professional experience."

The term "third-country" does not have anything to do with the term "third world".

The application deadline for the WOP-P Programme is available in this link.

The selection of grantees is a competitive process based on the academic performance and credentials of the candidates, in order to guarantee the selection of high-quality scholars. So, the following criteria will be considered: CV, teaching and research experience in the field, knowledge of English, and knowledge of a European language of the Consortium (Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese).

The Coordinating Committee of the WOP-P Consortium will propose the selected third countries scholars to European Commission grants (scholarships).

The consortium will inform to scholars on the selection decision taken by the Commission. Results of selection will be provided before the beginning of March 2010.

The Hosting University of scholars will be decided by the Coordinating Committee of the Master. It will be based on their research/professional specialization, taking into account their preferences, the need to obtain a balanced distribution among partner institutions, and the fluency in the national languages of the Consortium.
