Maria Vittoria Mazzarini, former student of WOP-P graduated July 2015, shares with us her internship experience in an Italian consulting firm. An interesting example of how WOP-P acquired competences are applied during the internship.

In March 2015 I started the internship in Methodos, a change management consultancy firm, located  in Milan.During the internship I had the chance to apply what I studied at the university, for example I took part in two change management projects for two big multinational companies. It is incredible to see how much our organizational psychology knowledge is appreciated and valued in such environments. I completed research tasks related to change management in a scientific and efficient manner, which was highly recognized by Methodos professionals.  This approach gave colleagues useful and creative insights, helping them to build projects in relation to client intervention.

For example, I prepared a presentation on “how to give feedback” for a training session.  I also constructed a presentation on “Smart Working” which the senior consultants then used to initiate the installation of this new product.  The skills that I acquired while undertaking the Master programme such as paying close attention to detail, working under pressure and simultaneously handling many tasks have helped me during my internship at Methodos.  These are essential for working in consultancy.

Two great strengths of our Master are the solid theoretical base of what we were thought and the practice-oriented learning style, which prepared me effectively for the activities I have carried in Methodos. I graduated in July 2015, and as a great result of the internship, I got a contract from Methodos, where I’m now still working as a junior consultant. This contract is a great opportunity to put into practice what I learned during my education.
