Research
I
was born in Las Navas de la Concepcion (Sevilla, Spain) in
1980. I attained my degree in Sport Sciences in 2002 in
Granada. After this I took my Diploma in Human Nutrition and
Dietetics (2005) and I began my PhD in Human Nutrition
(2002) with Dr. Guerra at University of Granada (Department
of Nutrition and Bromatology). I researched about the
chemical composition of Spirulina algae. Then, I was doing a
Master in Obesity and Cardiovascular Risk Factors whilst I
did a Dietitian practices at the Unit of Endocrinology and
Nutrition (Hospital Reina Sofia, Córdoba). During this time
I was a personal dietitian and trainer of various
elite/amateurs athletes and teams because I like sports very
much as hobby as professional aspects. I obtained a research
grant (Ministry of Education and Science, Spain) for to
realize my thesis on Physiology with Dr. Viña (Department
of Physiology, University of Valencia) in 2006. Since that
moment I am working in different research projects with
molecular biology techniques (genes and proteins expression
and proteins activities, cell cultures,…), and small
animals (Drosophila melanogaster, mice and rats). Actually,
I am focusing my researches on PET (Positron Emission
Tomography) and its interest for to study the glucose
metabolism (FDG) in physiological (i.e: ageing, gender,
exercise, etc.) and pathological situations (i.e: Cancer,
Alzheimer´s disease, etc.). I did a stay in Sevilla at the
centre PET-Cartuja in 2007 where I was learning about human
applications of PET technology. This technique provides very
important information about the metabolic function of
analyzed organ or tissue area, specially for cancer and
neurological investigation. In relation with all these
issues, I am interested in Free Radicals, Ageing, Menopause
and Ovariectomy, GRF-1 knock-out mice, Gender,
Cardiovascular Risk Factors, Nutrition, Alzheimer, Cancer
and Physical exercise too.
