   Biography

Dr. Miguel A. Gonzalez Cardenete studied chemistry at the University of Valencia where he obtained his B.Sc in 1995. He remained at Valencia to undertake advanced training in Organic Chemistry working on the total synthesis of natural diterpenoids under the supervision of Prof. Manuel Arnó Giribet and Prof.Ramón J. Zaragozá Cardells. In 1997, he completed his M. Sc. and continued studies towards his Ph.D. During his Doctoral studies he visited Prof. Gerald Pattenden's laboratories at the University of Nottingham to study radical cascade processes. In 2001, he obtained his Ph.D and moved back to Nottingham where he spent two years working on the total synthesis of Phorboxazole A. In 2003, he was awarded a MECD-Fullbright postdoctoral fellowship to work with Prof. Emmanuel A. Theodorakis at the University of California, San Diego. At the beginning of 2005, he returned to Spain to his present position as Research Scientist/Assistant Professor at Valencia University.

   Research interests
Design of efficient and stereoselective synthetic strategies based on cascade processes towards the synthesis    of biologically active natural products or analogues, particularly from marine origin. This research includes the    development of new asymmetric reactions and potential lead compounds for therapeutics/new drugs.
