SÍNTOMAS Y EXPLORACIÓN CLÍNICA

Mujer de 51 años, amigdalectomizada a los 8 años de edad, que presenta desde hacía cinco años un dolor en fosa carotídea izquierda, irradiado a toda esa hemifacies, se presenta en forma de episodios de varias horas de duración. Asimismo refería molestias y sensación de cuerpo extraño al tragar.
La exploración clínica evidenció una prominencia en la vallécula epiglótica izquierda (Figura 1). A la palpación se apreciaba la fosa amigdalina
ocupada por una estructura dura.
Se le realizó una ortopantomografía (Figura 2) y TAC (Figura 3).

SYMPTOMS AND CLINICAL EXAMINATION The patient was a 51 year-old woman with a history of tonsillectomy at 8 years of
age and a five year history of intermittent pain in the left superior carotid triangle. The pain
lasted for several hours and irradiated to the left facies. During swallowing the patient felt as if
having a foreign body on the side of her throat. A node was found during palpation of the left
neck in the area of the epiglottic vallecula (fossa) (Figure 1). Also during palpation a hard mass was
found in the left tonsilar fossa.
Ortopanthographic (Figure 2) and CAT (Figure 3) studies were done.
