Presentation of the preliminary data (December 23rd)

The idea is to present approximately 3 slides:

--Goal of the study and the main hypothesis that you tested.

--How the data were analyzed.

--A graph/table with the main finding/s.

Written report (same day as the exam in January)

It is important to follow the APA (American Psychological Association) norms. There is some info (in Spanish) in the following file:

http://www.uv.es/mperea/informe_spss.doc

In the links included in that file, there are examples (in English) on how to prepare a manuscript in APA style. There are also numerous websites with info on APA formatting style.

The overall written report should not be much longer than 10-12 pages:

1)   Title

2)   Abstract (new page)

3)   Introduction (new page)

4)   Methods

5)   Results

6)   Discussion

7)   References (new page)

As for the statistical analyses (i.e., Results section), you should focus on the main findings. That is, if you want to analyze the relationships between two quantitative variables, then a scattergram and a Pearson coefficient would be ok. If you want to analyze the means of two (or more) groups, then it may be a good idea to use a box-and-whisker plot—together (for instance) with a Table of the means (and standard deviations) in the different groups.
