Legalization of official academic documents
You can legalize
your official academic documents by either of these two procedures:
- If your academic degrees were obtained from a
University located in a country that belongs to the Haya
Convention,
you should obtain the Haya Apostille on all your official academic
documents. This can be easily done through the Ministry of International Affaris (from your country), and after if you want
an attested copy (to avoid sending originals), contact a Notary with
the corresponding competencies.
- Diplomatic Legalization of your official academic
documents, which involves the following three steps:
- Validation from
your (national) Ministry of Education (or equivalent institution)
of the official academic documents, which will recognize your
university and the signatures from the corresponding academic
authorities as being valid.
- Validation from your Ministry of International
Affairs (or equivalent institution), which will recognize your degree
as being valid to be used abroad, that is, outside your country of
origin.
- Validation from either the Spanish Embassy or from
any Embassy of a country belonging to the European Union, which will
validate that both previous Ministries (or equivalent institutions) are
correct and valid.
The whole
legalization process can be usually done in one or two days at most if
you go in person to these institutions.
