Photoisomerizations in Biology
Isomerizations induced by UV/Vis light on biological chromophores
constitute the interest of the present project. The number of systems
and their interest is self-evident: the retinal chromophore in
rhodopsine, acting in the initial step of the vision process in
vertebrates; the chromophore of the Photoactive Yellow Protein
(PYP), responsible of the phototactic phenomena in certain
bacteries.
