Pilar Sepúlveda, Ph D

 

Pilar Sepúlveda works at Fundación Hospital La Fe and joins the group of Cardiac Regeneration and Heart Transplantation. She received her PhD in Biochemistry in 1995 from University of Valencia in Spain and worked for three years at Pasteur Institute as a Marie Curie fellow were she got experience in the pathophysiology of Chagas` disease. Back to Spain she introduced herself in the field of stem cells biology and focused her work on umbilical cord blood hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. In 2004 she joined the group of Dr. J.A. Montero, and since then they work in the cardiovascular cell therapy field. The research program includes the use of adult stem cells, biomaterials or growth factors to treat myocardial infarction.
