A university open to the world -like ours- willing to
strengthen its position as an international scientific and
cultural forum can never forget its social dimension,
particularly if it wants to be an effective instrument for
territorial and human development. Gandia International
University the name of the proposal for the permanent
presence of Valencia University in Gandia- benefits from the
cooperation of the town's council. The initiative supersedes
the former Summer University -commissioned in 1984- and
aims to become an international meeting point where ideas,
knowledge, projects and research can be shared, thus
contributing to the promotion, development, and the technical,
scientific, and cultural progress of the area.
Valencia University intends to extend their academic offer to
the highly dynamic central areas of the Valencian Region,
which actually account for more than half a million
inhabitants.
Gandia International University will allow the huge potential
of Valencia University to unfold not only in relation with
education but also with regard to the research applicable by
the most active entrepreneurial sectors in the area. In
addition, Gandia counts on top quality tourist infrastructure,
which can indeed help reinforce our international links. The
culture-generating ability of our Institution will find in
Gandia and its surroundings receptive audiences for us to
enhance the profile of university in the Valencian society.
The proposal includes four development lines: academic
training activities, academic information activities and
technological transfer, Gandia Internacional and Gandia,
a new cultural proposal.
