‘Arquitectura i natura: una visió del Botànic’ (Architecture and nature: a Botànic’s vision) is an exhibition reflecting on the expansion options of the botanic garden. Architects and designers exhibit five ideas titled ‘Entre branques’, ‘Gegants sostenibles’, ‘Jardí obert’, ‘Moving gardens’ and ‘Paraigües’.
Last June, INCUBARTE, the contemporary art festival, was installed in the botanic garden for the summer. Among the proposals it included was ‘Arquitectura i natura: una visió del Botànic’ an exhibition by Espacio IDEO showing five architectural projects which would show what would happen if the garden was expanded.
According to Vicente Carrasco and Carlos Pinazo, the exhibition’s organizers, ‘it is about reflecting on the relationship among the garden, the citizen and city, since gardens catch a part of nature to bring it closer to the human being.’
The project ‘Entre branques’ exhibits an alternative route to the top of the trees, and ‘Gegants sostenibles’ creates self-sufficient structures which would connect the garden with other green spaces in the city.
‘Jardí obert’ proposes permeability and translucent walls to capture all the attention of people near the garden, and ‘Moving gardens’ is inspired by science fiction to imagine a circular space which would take a part of the garden to any spot of the city. Finally, ‘Paraigües’ imagines a protective wrapper for all the garden’s ensemble.
The exhibition can be visited until October 21st at the garden’s ‘Estufa freda’ from Monday to Friday. Opening hours: 10:00 – 21:00 in August; 10:00 – 20:00 in September; 10:00 – 19:00 in October. The exhibition is included in the garden’s ticket.
