
Universitat de València has already filled all the places available for 2012-2013 academic year. A total of 15,261 students have chosen to study a degree at Universitat de València as their first option, which states that UV is the favourite among the Valencian public universities. The demand to study at Universitat de València is so high that 31,837 students are in the waiting lists, 6,123 more than last year.
Pass grades are higher this time because the strong demand of the Universitat de València’s degrees. Medicine, for example, requires a 12.546, while in 2011 was 12.410. A waiting list of 3.372 people has been created due to this fact. As for Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, the pass grade is 12.096, while in 2011 was 11.956. Odontology’s pass grade also rises: from 11.730 last year to 11.896. Translation (English) goes up from 11.430 to 11.694. Biotechnology requires now 11.611, while its pass grade was 11.543 in 2011.
Universitat de València offered 8,450 places for the first year of 53 degrees and 5 double degrees. All the places have been filled in this first June stage. That means that a total of 31,837 students must wait.
Double degrees, which require grades above 10, have filled their places and have generated large waiting lists. The degree in International Business, mostly taught in English, has also had big success among the students, despite 11.074 pass grade is required. Journalism, Biology, Nursery, Pharmacy or Physiotherapy have required more than 10 points as well.
The Vice-Principal for Studies and Language Policy, Isabel Vázquez, expresses her satisfaction over the pre-registration results in this first stage: ‘The number of people wishing to study here have been encreasing for years now, and they show this choosing UV’s degrees as their first option.’ This increasing in the demand has happened to the three campuses and to all areas of knowledge.
New this year, the waiting lists management will be entirely done online.
