
The 1st Valencian language Olympiad has been organized by Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Communicació, Departament de Filologia Catalana and the Delegation for Students Incorporation to University. The main objectives were to promote the study of Valencian language and literature among young people, award the academic excellence, and become a meeting point between secondary education and university.
This first edition of the Valencian language Olympiad, which had a precursor in the Liturature Olympiad organized by secondary education teachers during twelve years, has had a regional nature. 81 teams were competing, made up of upper-secondary education and coming from 16 public and private centres in the Valencian Community. The exam took place last April 21st at Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació.
These are the names of the winners: First prize for Bernat Benedí and Virgínia Carbonell, from IES Rei En Jaume in Alzira; Second prize for Marco Mendoza and Nayara Carbonell, from IES Distrito Marítimo in Valencia; and third prize for Andrea Belenguer and David Ortega, from the same centre.
The prizes were awarded last Thursday in Facultat de Filologia, Traducció i Comunicació’s Sala Enric Valor. The prize is a grant for 2012-2013 academic year registration in any of the Universitat de València’s degrees.
