From 6 to 26 August, Universitat de València will close most of its facilities. The academic institution will have a similar experience of last year when it closed its premises for two weeks to reduce energy expenditure. Some of the infrastructures will remain open though, since they need ongoing maintenance. The university staff will be able to enter the centres but there will not be any air conditioning and cleaning services.
The facilities which will be open during the summer are: the animal-housing units, registration at the Office of the Principal, the Scientific Park, the Gregori Maians library (Tarongers Campus), La Nau’s cultural centre, the Botanic Garden, among others. The staff will be allowed access to all these centres, but there will not be air conditioning and cleaning services.
Some libraries, besides Gregori Maians, will have special opening hours during the summer. Information on these hours is available here.
Last summer, Universitat de València saved 142,531 Euros by closing many of its teaching and administrative facilities for 15 days in August. One more week is added this year for the first time to increase energy saving. This initiative is included in the economic saving plan that the institutions has been implementing for four years.
