The Friends and Former Students of the University of Valencia (Alumni UV) launches its course in September with the creation of its own Gastronomic Club, which will have the collaboration and the advice of Valencia Club Cocina (Kitchen Club Valencia). The course start activities are completed with visits to Alcalá del Júcar and La Manchuela, and two outings through Valencia.

Alumni UV has called his members to an information meeting that will take place in the installations of Valencia Club Cocina (Plaza San Felipe de Neri, 6-B) on next 23rd September, at 19:30h. From this meeting the Gastronomic Club Alumni UV will be formed.

Guided by the expert cooks of the Valencia Club Cocina who are renowned chefs and professionals of the gastronomy, the members of the new club will enjoy advantages as the development of cooking workshops, nutrition and eating habits seminars, coffee and culinary consultancy sessions, guided visits to the municipal markets, interchange of recipes and collective tastings.

To be part of the Club, the people interested will have to contact firstly with the office Alumni UV (963531070 or amics@uv.es).

Guided tours in the city and the territory
Alumni UV, in collaboration with the travel club Fil-per-Randa, has also organised four activities in September. Within the cycle ‘Valencia por dentro y por fuera’ (‘Valencia on the inside and on the outside’) on 12th, the collective of the Universitat de València will approach the world of Caravaggio through the work of Francesc Ribalta and Josep Ribera, exhibited in the museum of the Corpus Christi School and in the museum of Fine Arts. On 19th, the expected trip is titled ‘Patrimonio escondido. Rincones de Valencia por descubrir’ (‘Hidden heritage. Valencian corners to be discovered’), where the participants will meet the forgotten corners, some of them restored, with styles, forms and volumes that, with the day to day, go unnoticed to the wayfarer’s look. They are not easily visible places, but with this initiative Alumni UV and Fil-per-Randa want to rescue them from the oblivion.

On the other side, they are programmed, with a subsidy from the collective Alumni UV for their partners, two trips on 27th September to the area of Alcalá del Júcar. A group will do the ‘Ruta de los Pueblos’ (‘Route of the Villages’) and will meet the popular architecture of the region, while a second group will traverse La Manchuela within the programme ‘Geografía del Agua’ (‘Geography of the water’), with a green route of low difficulty through the Batán path to Alcalá.
