The UV improves its position in the Shanghai ranking and it is among the world’s 300 most prestigious universities

The UV improves its position in the 2014 Shanghai ranking, which has been made public in August. Despite the ordinary cutbacks (following a downward trend since 2008) and in spite of the grants for research projects, the UV is placed in the stretch between the 200 to 300 best universities on Earth.

The Shanghai ranking of 2014 also places the UV among the best universities of Spain, at the same level that the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona and the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid, and it is only bellow the Universitat of Barcelona.

This classification values mainly the impact of the researches generated in the campuses and the awards received. In the next stretch between the 300 to 400 best universities, the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, the Universitat Politecnica of Valencia, Universidad of Granada and Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona are found. And in the stretch from 401 to 500 are found the University of the Basque Country, Universitat Politècnica of Catalunya, Santiago de Compostela and University of Zaragoza.

The top ten world universities still are Harvard (U.S.A), Stanford (U.S.A), Technologic Institute of Massachusetts (MIT, EE.UU.), University of California-Berkeley (EE.UU.), Cambridge (United Kingdom), Princeton (EE.UU.), Technological Institute of California (EE.UU.), Columbia (EE.UU.), University of Chicago (EE.UU.) and Oxford (United Kingdom).
