Mónica Oltra opens today a series of conferences about women and literature

The University of Valencia through the Equality Unit and the Valencian Language Academy start today, 11 Wednesday, a new conference cycle titled ‘Women and literature’ with the aim of enhancing the value of women’s contributions through history in some fields like literature, education, science, art or law among other disciplines. This event coincides with the prolongation of the acts revolving around the figure of Sister Isabel de Villena.

The cycle will take place at Aula Magna of Cultural Centre La Nau and will consist of eleven conferences that will be given over the next twelve months. The opening session will be leaded by University of Valencia Rector Esteban Morcillo and President of the AVL Ramon Ferrer. It will take place on Wednesday at 19:00 and will count with the collaboration of the Council Vice-President and Equality and Inclusive Policy Minister Mónica Oltra, who will give a talk called ‘From silence to word’. Admission is free and limited to the capacity of the hall.

La Nau’s Aula Magna will welcome in the next months the presence of women like Julia Sevilla (University of Valencia), Josepa Cortés (University of Valencia), Julia Benavent (University of Valencia), Isabel Morant (University of Valencia), Carmen Alfaro (University of Valencia), Ana Aguado (University of Valencia), Capitolina Díaz (University of Valencia), Emilia Serra (University of Valencia), Carmen Agulló (University of Valencia) and Verònica Cantó (AVL), who will close the film series and will put a stop to these cultural acts dedicated to Sister Isabel de Villena, Writer of the Year, organised by the Valencian Language Academy.
