Elections for the new partial renewal of University Senate

The next 20th November the call to vote to elect the new partial renewal of University Senate of the Universitat de València will be done. For the first time ever, it has been able to stand for University Senate by telematics services. This electoral process introduces important new features for students based on new regulations.

This year, besides the complete students’ representatives renewal, six PDI (teaching and research staff) vacancies and one vacancy in administration staff will be filled. Furthermore, it will take place an ordinary renewal of faculty committees and Department Councils.

This electoral process introduces important new features for students based on new regulations. This year, and for the first time ever, every student can introduce their candidatures by the platform ENTRAU (By electronics administrative procedures of this university): entreu.uv.es.

This app checks automatically if those who stand for elections are enrolled in any degree of the faculties they are applying for, moreover it save them to submit any documentation when they stand as a candidate for election. Likewise, once they have stood as candidates, it is necessary that all students who take part of the candidature witness electronically their participation in that process by ENTREU itself.

Equally, this is also about the last annual elections, since in academic year 2015-16 the students’ representatives elects for University Senate of the Universitat de València will be for a two-month period.

University Senate is annual reorganized to elect the 75 students representatives (as the possible vacancies), and every four years all the university community bodies are renewed (as it happened last year 2013).

The University Senate has several competences. From defend the public figure and principles of the Universitat de València established in the University Constitution to write the University Constitution and their changes. The highest representative office also takes on the responsibility for pass and change of the Universitat de València regulation; established the general criterion that Governing Council has to consider to issue the report about the setting up, changes and closure of faculties, university schools and university research institutes of the University of Valencia; and discuss and pass the general aims in university policy that the principal have to submit in the second quarter of every year.
