The Physical Education and Sports Service of the Universitat de València has been awarded by the City Hall of Valencia with the prize to the entity, association or group that has supported the most the Sports volunteering movement, as it closely collaborates with the Valencian Office for the Sports Volunteering since its creation. All the training activities of this Office are carried out by this service through official credits.

‘We are happy due to this recognition, especially because it is an activity that is carried out voluntarily and also entails the collaboration with an entity such as the City Hall of Valencia, the Municipal Sports Foundation and the Office for the Voluntary Work’, has expressed José Campos, head of the Physical Education and Sports Service of the UV. Campos has added: ‘It requires co-ordination and collaboration in pursuit of an activity such as volunteering, which is so important in the sports field’.

The Universitat de València is the only university that gives certificates to the voluntary courses. This means, on the one hand a bet on training, and on the other hand, the participation in the encouragement of voluntary work in Valencia.

The jury of these awards has decided who are the athletes, volunteers, teams, institutions, media and companies that during 2016 accumulated a greater number of merits to be distinguished with the Valencian Merit Award in the different categories. Those awarded will receive the prize the next 29th September in a ceremony that will take place at the Assembly Hall of the Complejo Deportivo Cultural La Petxina.
