The University of Valencia opens registration for its 108 official Master's degrees

The University of Valencia has opened, as of 26 March, the first phase of enrollment for its 108 official Master's degrees. Until 27 June, prosprective students may enroll from the website: http://bit.ly/ZkzWij. Moreover, from 28 June to 4 September, there will be a second phase for those Master's degrees that have not filled all of its available places.

 

For the 2013-2014 academic year, the University offers a total of 4,800 new places spread over Master's degrees of all branches of knowledge: 14 in Arts and Humanities, 15 in Basic Sciences, 21 in Health Sciences, 50 in Social Sciences and Law, and 8 in Engineering and Architecture.

The General Postgraduate Service of the University, located in the Office of the Principal building (Av. Blasco Ibáñez, 13) has all the details regarding this process, which can be requested by email (postgrau@uv.es) or by phone (34 83 229 9639). In any case, the necessary information about the Master's degrees and the procedures to pre-register is available online on the following address: http://bit.ly/ZkzWij.

However, the Master's degree in Secondary Education Teaching, which has a special admission procedure, will open its pre-registration period in late April.

It must be noted that the offer of Master's degrees from the University of Valencia is increasingly being demanded by foreign students. In this regard, last year, 18% of those enrolled were from other countries.

Prospective students can access various scholarships for their master's studies. Beside the general Ministry of Education and Valencian government scholarships, the University also offers financial aid to its students. The amount this year has increased to 900,000 euros for official graduate and postgraduate studies. In addition, some master's degrees obtain funds from public and private entities that allow for specific scholarships. The information on these scholarships is published on the website of postgraduate studies under the section 'Scholarships and Financial Support'.

There are also specific scholarships aimed at students coming from developing countries. The University offers, for example, the Luisa Cardona scholarship, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for International Relations. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other countries, such as Perú, also have special calls for scholarships.

During the 2013-14 academic year, eight new master's degrees have been added to the traditional offer: Master's Degree in Engineering Services and Web Applications; Euro-Mediterranean Master's Degree in Neuroscience and Biotechnology; Master's Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Management; Master's Degree in Logic and Scientific Philosophy; Master's Degree in Integrative Evolutionary Biology; Master's Degree in Speech Theraphy Intervention Specialisation; Master's Degree inHistory of the Formation of the Western World; and the Master's Degree in Procura (Spanish category of practising lawyer).

Relative to the start of the procedure for pre-registration of Master's degrees for 2013-2014, the vice-principal for Postgraduate Studies, Rosa María Marín Sáez, wanted to point out that the University of Valencia has an official postgraduate offering that is "the broadest and most comprehensive of the Valencian University System".In this regard, she also stated that opting for the University of Valencia, "with the quality of its teaching staff and such a prominent volume of research in leading areas of Spanish science and technology", is a guarantee to study a Master's degree, characterized by providing advanced training of a specialized nature.

The vice-principal believes that postgraduate studies at the University of Valencia is "an investment for the students' personal and professional future."Furthermore, she wanted to highlight the University of Valencia's effort with its call for financial aid, "especially during these times" to facilitate access to master's studies.
