The UV opens the 5th Call for development cooperation projects with a budget of 250.000 euros

The Office of the Vice-Principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation of the UV has opened the term, until the 24 January 2017, in order to present the applications for the 5th Call for development cooperation projects with a budget of 250.000 euros. This year, the implementation of projects will take precedence in 24 countries and territories in America, Africa and Asia.

The subsidies of this Call, addressed to the members of the university community (Teaching and Research Staff-PDI and Staff and Faculties Administration-PAS, individually or collectively), aims to boost the development cooperation projects or actions, in the educational, scientific, technical, cultural and social sphere, that contribute to the improvement of the training and life conditions of the population in the 24 countries and priority territories for cooperation due to their low development index. These are the following: Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Philippines, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Paraguay, Peru, Sahrawi Population, Dominican Republic, Senegal and Palestinian Territories.

The subsidies, whose sums exceed by 50.000 euros the sum of 2015, and which are conveyed by the vice-principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation in the 0.7 Programme A Ship of Solidarity; and the development of the projects will take place through the General Foundation of the Universitat de València.

This Call is based in the University Cooperation for Development (CUD) of the Universitat de València, which is considered an essential part of the social commitment of the academic institution. The objectives are the improvement of the university systems, the promotion of the access to higher education, the collaboration in the progress in research fields to solve the difficulties associated to the process related to the eradication of poverty and development, gender equity, the improvement of women’s abilities and autonomy, peace, democracy and respect of human rights.

The 0.7 Programme
The ‘0.7 Programme A Ship of Solidarity’, is managed by, with the support of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València, by the 0.7 Committee, created in 1995 with the aim of establishing the general action lines of cooperation to development of the Universitat de València; distributing the 0.7 budget -obtained from the 0.7% of the Universitat budget, as well as with a volunteer basis of the 0.7% of the salaries of its staff and university fees of students- among the different cooperation programmes; controlling and supervising this budget; and preparing and solving calls for cooperation projects.
