“Family Business and Professional Development” Chair for Family Business

The course is mainly addressed to undergraduate and postgraduate students of all sectors, students with entrepreneurial initiative or members of business families and professionals and persons interested in finding out about the family business problematic in our country. The aim of the course is to make known what is a business family, which agents intervene in it, which are the problems and the strengths of this kind of business and understand the succession process, the typical conflicts in these type of business and the problematic of the leadership.

The students will be able to learn and assimilate a set of solid and innovative concepts to understand with greater clarity the strategic, organizational, human, economic-financial and legal issues that can be seen in the business family. Graduates of the course will study first-hand from specialised professors and professionals in these kind of issues and from a interdisciplinary and practical perspective the major issues of succession, the generation changes, the incorporation and family remuneration, the role of the professionals and the manufacture of a family protocol that orders and regulates the relationships among family and business.

The course consist of five modules:

Module 0 - Introduction to Family Business

Module 1 - Corporate Governance and Management in Family Business

Module 2 - Control over Emotions in Family Business

Module 3 - Legal Issues in Family Business

Module 4 - Financial Issues in Family Business

Module 5: Study Visit

During the pre-registration process a grant to set up the training course may be requested. The Chair will offer a total of 80 grants consisting of the exemption of tuition fees. To make use of these grants will be necessary to pre-register in the link of the Chair website. Admissions and granting fellowships in order of registration. Pre-registration will be opened until 17 of February.

The course is recognised by the University Extension Service of the UV. This is why the 4 ECTS Credits that comprise it, will be officially recognised by the Universitat and the student may opt to include it in the Diploma Supplement (DS).
