The Universitat de València plays a major task in promoting gender equality not only in the institution itself but in the social projection through training, research, knowledge transfer, cultural diffusion and sociocultural innovation. The exhibition, organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, shows this contribution of the university through the work of two solid entities such as the Equality Unit and the University Institute of Women’s Studies.

In the first thirteen panels, the exhibition shows the work carried out by the Equality Unit in managing policies for gender equality. The several Equality Plans implemented in the institution (First Equality Plan, 2010-2012 and Second Equality Plan, 2013-2017) are specified, as well as the role of the Gender Equality Observatory, a key tool to visualise the inequalities between men and women in the university area based on studies and microreports. Gender mainstreaming focuses in the activities and the work of several centres and services of our university, responsible for the compliance with the equality principle between men and women.

From the panel 14, research activities of the University Institute of Women’s Studies (IUED) are shown through the implementation of projects, the participation in international co-operation programmes and the development of specific lines of study.

Their active participation in university teaching is also presented, both in undergraduate studies and master’s and doctoral studies. Also non-formal learning activities are shown: Cycles of Study and Research, It’s time for women or the Woman and Development Programme, the latter established as a permanent exchange with the Maghreb and Latin American countries. The publication of the collection of Cuadernos Feministas (feminist journals), prizes and awards received and the membership of the Coordination Centre of Valencian Public Universities are also displayed.
