The López Piñero Institute for the History of Science and Medicine (joint centre of the University of Valencia and the CSIC), located at the Palau de Cerveró, presents in the Sala José Puche the exhibition “Ciencia y Cultura en la Guerra. L’Institut d’Estudis Valencians 1937-1938) (Science and Culture in War Times. The Institute of Valencian Studies 1937-1938). The exhibition is curated by Frances Pérez Moragón and Edelmir Galdón Casanoves, and it has had the collaboration of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua (Valencian Academy of the Language), the Research Group SANHISOC and the Inter-university Institute for Valencian Language. The main objective of the project is to recover the work of this institution, which represented one of the most ambitious projects for promoting Valencian science and culture. The implementation of this exhibition, which can be visited until 18 July, represents the recovery of historical memory, as it opens its doors in the same place where this institution was located during 1937-1938. Furthermore, it brings together some of the documents, and images of that historical moment, all thanks to the loans of centres such as: the Nicolau Primitiu Valencian Library, Prehistory Museum of Valencia, Arxiu de la Diputació de València (Valencian Provincial Council Archive), Historical Library of the University of Valencia, Carles Salvador Foundation of Benassal (Castellón) and also thanks to the different contributions from private collections; Roberto Feo and Bosch Morata families.
