Holocaust by Bullets

Yahad - In Unum, 10 years of research

Yahad - In Unum (“together” in Hebrew and Latin) is an organisation located in Paris. It was founded in 2004 by the Father Patrick Desbois and it is devoted to the identification and documentation of mass Jewish killing sites by Nazi deployment groups (Einsatzgruppen), in East Europe during the World War II.

These mass shootings weren’t secret, they were often perpetrated in front of the eyes of locals who were at the site of the execution, forced to watch or observing voluntarily.

The objective of this work is:

• To witness testimonies of each killing during the “Holocaust by Bullets”.

• To stop lies about those who deny the holocaust today and tomorrow.

• To pay the necessary respect to the victims burial sites and to make possible its preservation.

• To prevent other genocides.

In the last 10 years 79 research trips took place in 8 different countries. Belarus, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, Poland, Romania and Ukraine. More than 3,600 interviews to eyewitnesses of the crimes have been collected and more than 1,350 sites of Jewish massacres have been identified.

Exhibition:

After 10 years of research, Yahad can finally present the different phases of the crimes against Jewish by the Nazi units in the occupied territories. The exhibition contributes to the understanding of the role played by the “Holocaust by Bullets” as precursor and model of today’s mass crimes.

The exhibition is composed by 5elements or modules representing the transversality of the criminal process after the multiplicity of these crimes and a final resume with a panel. The arrest, the path, the nude, the execution, the sacking. Each criminal phase is presented in a module, combining the collected evidences by the Yahad and the archives.
