Exhibition at the Museum House of Turís.

The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, maintains the strategy of being present in the Valencian territory, in the local society, through the organisation of activities that involve university experts. It is the case of this exhibition, focused on Ribera del Júcar, emblematic Valencian littoral region where the big Valencian river par excellence does not only provides its name but also explains its existence.

In the exhibition “The Universitat de València and its regional environments: Ribera del Júcar” have intervened around fifty professors from different fields of knowledge of the Universitat, different research groups as well as technicians in the public administration and local experts.

La Ribera del Júcar is nowadays the Valencian scene where is displayed the intensive farming, specially irrigated farming, where rice, fruit and orchards are cultivated, which have been watered through a complex hydraulic system of canals and ditches for many centuries.

Alto, it is a space of special richness, heterogeneous in the socioeconomic level (industry, automoile industry, tourism, cooperativism), very valuable in its cultural legacy (architectural, artistic heritage, holidays and traditions, distinguished personalities) and of great landscape and environmental interest (Albufera and its throats or the interior mountainous sector), where there is an important floristic diversity and of species (birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians).

Ultimately, this exhibition aims to discover to us how the current reality of a region that wants to preserve its historical heredity –its identity signs– has been constituted in the globalised world in which we are today.
