Both municipalities are in the region of Los Serranos or La Serranía, referent rural space of the Valencian interior, at the foot of the Javalambre mountains (Teruel).

The Villa de Alpuente has a rich history where stands out the Muslim period, when formed its own independent kingdom (Tarifa de Alpuente). Stand our its walls and castle, catalogued as Heritage of Cultural Interest (BIC), as well as its terraced traditional vegetable gardens.

Chelva, historical capital of the region, has a rich religious heritage result of the coexistence of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures until the 17th century. Proof of this are several hermitages, the Santuario de la Virgen del Remedio, the Convento de San Francisco and the Iglesia de los Ángeles, a Barroque temple of the 17th century. The Villa and its vegetable gardens are classified as Heritage of Cultural Interest.
