The International Congress about Children’s and Youth Literature ‘The Child and the Book’ will take place at the Faculty of Teacher Training on Thursday 30. More than 60 specialists around the world, from Japan to Chile, will talk about music, plastic arts, theatre and children’s and youth literature during three days. The full university professor Perry Nodelman (emeritus professor of the University of Winnipeg, in Canada), the full university professor Tzina Kalogirou (University of Athens) and the musician Mark Withers (freelance, United Kingdom) take part in this congress.

This year the topic of the congress is the relationship between the children’s and youth literature and the rest of arts and there will be some academic, musical and artistic activities from 30 March to April 1.

‘The Child and the Book’ is an itinerant congress addressed to researchers in children’s and youth literature, especially young people. It was first held in 2004 in Roehampton (London). Afterwards, it was celebrated in Newcastle, Istanbul, New York, Vancouver, Norway, Cambridge, Padua, Athens, Aveiro, Breslau and this year it will take place in Valencia. The relevance of the congress lies in the prestigious places where it has been carried out; but also in the publications that involves directly or indirectly.

This congress has been possible thanks to the collaboration of two departments of the Faculty of Teacher Training, the Department of Language and Literature Teaching and the Department of Teaching of Musical, Visual and Corporal Expression. And also the provincial government of Valencia has collaborated in this event.
