The short “Hágase la masa” by two professors from the UV, awarded in “Ciència en Acció

The short entitled “Hágase la masa” (Let there be mass made), by Javier Díez and Vicent J. Martínez, from the UV, has been awarded with the first prize (ex aequo) of Scientific Shorts, granted by “Ciència en Acció” (Science in Action). This work was awarded, previously, with the dissemination prize of CPAN. “Ciència en Acció”- “Science in Action” awards is totaling 1,500€.

“Science in Action” (Ciència en Acció) is a programme for students, teachers, researchers and disseminators of science, in any of their fields of research, with the goal of promoting scientific dissemination by innovative initiatives. Scientific societies, institutes, the UNED and the CSIC collaborate in the programme.

The jury highlighted the validity of this film in order to explain “in a esay way the most important discovery in Fundamental Physics, over the last decades: the discovery of the Higgs boson”. Production quality is valued, as well as the realization and the quality of the script, having the assessment of Spanish recognized researchers in Particle Physics.

The video was directed by Javier Díez, from an initiative from the website Conec, managered by Vicent Martínez (Astronomic Observatory of the UV) and associated to COSCE. Javier Díez directs several disseminating documents, among them, the ALHAMBRA Survey-2012 and “Invisible Universe”-“L’univers invisible”, CPAN award, in 2011.
