“How to safe irrigation water?” is the title of the winning project of the II Awards to Motivation for Undertaking at the Aula Motivem, which is organised by the Chair of Cultural Business and which has been awarded last Wednesday at the seat of ADEIT:
Students of the Degree in Industrial and Environmental Applications Measuring the Distance of Temperature at Universitat de València Pablo Botella, Diego Camilo Caselles, Ana Gabriela Iglesias and Rubén Victoria are in charge of this idea which was co-ordinated by the full university professor of Earth Physics and Thermodynamics, Vicente Caselles.
The winning project, which was awarded 4,000€, consists of the saving of irrigation water through satellite images which –, the winners– allow to know the hydric need of a cultivation from the information which provides the satellite image of the previous day.
The professor who coordinated this project emphasized the hope and energy of the youngsters as the best way out of the economic difficulties: “If we use the energy of the young students and the experience of the older ones, no crisis will be able to resist us”, Caselles stated.
Second prize, worth 3,000€, was to Bioluminescence, consisting on an application of biotechnology addressed to the invention of new renewal energy sources based on the creation of vegetal organisms which, not only respect the environment, but they are also able to emit light. This project, coordinated by Emilia Matallana, a full university professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, was developed by Biotechnology students named María Martí, Cristina Santana and Laura Villamayor.
deCo is the winning project of the third of the awards of this edition, which was recognised with an award of 2,000 €. Psychology students Sara Martínez, Joaquín Rodríguez and Ana Vicent, coordinated by Methodology of Behaviour Sciences full university professor named Amparo Oliver, developed this idea, based on an ecological device of control of carbon dioxide which allows a higher efficiency of energetic consumption and, at the same time, a higher protection and security at home.
An entrepreneur University
The quality, hope, work team and the innovative ability were the distinguished aspects by the principal of Universitat de València, Esteban Morcillo, on the los winning projects, which –he pointed out– show the entrepreneur spirit of the entire Universitat de València: «These awards represent the set of all the university community, very committed with undertaking». Specially, the role of students was distinguished, which allows «to keep alive and fresh a centenary university, as if it had been created some decades ago», according the principal of Universitat.
In this sense, the president of CIERVAL, José Vicente González, has stressed the «daring» of young university students and in the formula of work of these awards, based on the collaboration of teachers and students for the creation of new entrepreneur ideas. Likewise, González encouraged students to make a step to the world of business and to become business entrepreneurs. «From CIERVAL, we welcome you to the world of business adventure», he said.
Likewise, the president of the Chair of Cultural Business, Carlos Pascual, seemed to be «dazzled» by the quality of the presented ideas and he thanked the enterprises of the Pattern of this chair and La Caixa their support for this initiative, which–he pointed– allows together with other initiatives that Universitat de València be pioneer in its approach to the world of business.
The award ceremony, furthermore, had the presence of different people around the world of Administration, business and University as the assistant manager of Formation and Mobility of Professors and Teaching Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Alejandro Cremades; of the University General Director, Higher Education and Council of Education Science, Felipe Palau; of the Vice-Principal of Studies of Universitat de València, Mª Vicente Month; and the territorial Director of La Caixa, Bibiano Manuel Martínez.
