The Universitat de València and Michelin launch a campaign to raise awareness to the youth on road safety

The Universitat de València and Michelin promote the campaign ‘Plan Joven de Seguridad Vial’ (‘Youth Plan on Road Safety’), aiming to raise awareness on the respect of the traffic rules on students. The campuses of Tarongers (from 29th September to 2nd October) and Burjassot-Paterna (from 5th to 7th October) will host activities such as a driving test for the students, the simulation of an overturn of a vehicle, experiencing the effects of the alcohol consumption by using special glasses or driving in a Scalextric track.

The initiative is result of the collaboration between the Universitat de València and Michelin, through the University Research Institute on Traffic and Road Safety (INTRAS), and in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Road Safety (FESVIAL).
 
The vice-principal for Teaching Staff and Academic Planning, Maria Vicenta Mestre Escribá, and the director of Communication and Social Responsibility of Michelin, Félix Sanchidrián San Frutos, will present the Road Safety Plan on Tuesday 29th September, at 12:00h, in the facilities located in the students parking of the Tarongers Campus (Ramon Llull street) in front of the Library of Education. To the ceremony will also attend the provincial traffic chief of Valencia, María Dolores Pérez; the lieutenant colonel of the Spanish military police chief of the traffic sector of the Valencian Government, Javier Ferragut; the secretary of INTRAS, Constanza Calatayud; and the full university professor in road safety and president of the Spanish Foundation for Road Safety (FESVIAL), Lluis Montoro.
 
With advices and basic information for a responsible way of driving, the Universitat and Michelin want that the youth become aware on the danger that supposes in the road factors as speeding, no using the appropriate restraint systems, misusing the mobile phone, or the alcohol consumption.
 
Apart from the benefits of assuming the principles of a responsible way of driving and the importance of the implementation of the traffic rules, who participate in at least three activities of the Plan Joven de Seguridad Vial of Michelin, will enter in the draw of the payment of the university enrolment fees of the academic year  (maximum 2.000 euros), with only filling the protective passport, which will be given to them during the tests.
 
The tents will remain open from 29th September to 2nd October at the Tarongers Campus and from 5th to 7th October in the Burjassot-Paterna Campus, from 10:00 to 18:00h.
