Universitat de València will present 21 novelties at the Book Fair, which will start tomorrow at Viveros’ Gardens

Publications from Universitat de València will present 21 novelties at the 50th Book Fair, which will start tomorrow at Viveros’ Gardens. The academic institution organised six disclosure events of its degrees. Therefore, principal Esteban Morcillo will present on Wednesday (19.30h) the presentation of the work titled “History of the Spains”, coordinated by Joan Romero and Antoni Furió.

Publicacions from Universitat will present their books on 23rd, 24th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th. The institution will occupy the stands 7 and 8 from the installed ones at Viveros’ Gardens in Valencia. Complete programme available at:

On Thursday 23rd at 19.30h the following ones will be presented: “Almadraba”, by Jaume Fuster; “Prosa i creació literària en Joan Fuster” (Prose and literary creation from Joan Fuster), by Francesco Ardolino, Enric Balaguer, Anna Esteve, J. V. Garcia Raffi and Nel·lo Pellisser; “Joan Fuster, llibre a llibre. Diccionari bibliogràfic” (Joan Fuster, book by book. Bibliographic dictionary), coordinated by Salvador Ortells Miralles; “Aquella dolçor amarga. La tradició amatòria clàssica en el Curial e Güelfa” (That bitter pain. The classical loving tradition at the Curial and Güelfa), by Sònia Gros; and “El gran libro de la Horchata y la Chufa de Valencia” (The great book of Horchata and Chufa of Valencia), directed and coordinated by José Miguel Soriano de Castillo.

Esteban Morcillo, the principal of Universitat de València; Jaume Fuster, a photograph; Enric Izquierdo, editor of the IIFV and the Fuster Chair; Sònia Gros, full university professor of Latin language and UNED professor; and José Miguel Soriano de Castillo, Director of the Nutrition Clinic of Lluís Alcanyís Foundation of Universitat de València.

On Friday 24th April (at 19.30h) the novelties from the essay “El far de Løndstrup. Assaig sobre la memòria moral dels espais” (The Løndstrup lighthouse. Essay on the moral memory of spaces) by Enric Balaguer will take turn. 

The following ones will participate: Antoni Martí Monterde, professor of Comparative Literature at University of Barcelona; Enric Balaguer, full university professor of Contemporary Literature at University of Alacant; and Gustau Muñoz, PUV editor.

On Monday 27th April, at 19:30 as well, the novelties of the Faculty of Geography and History will be made public. “Carlet: History, Geography, Art *and Patrimony”; “Catarroja: History, Geography and Art”; “Torrent: History, Geography and Art”; and “L’Eliana: History, Geography and Art”.

At the event the following ones will participate: Jorge Hermosilla Pla, Vice-Principal of Territorial Projection and Participation; Esther Alba, dean of the Faculty of Geography and History and Director of the de la collection; and political representatives of the Councils of L’Eliana, Catarroja, Carlet and Torrent.

In the evening of Tuesday 28th April (at 19:30), the novelties of the Vice-Principal for Territorial   Projection and Participation will be presented: “Atlas of the Valencian territorial resources”; “The Valencian territorial resource: bases for the development / Els recursos territorial valencians: bases per al desenvolupament”; “To give shelter to oneself on earth and mountain. Memory, work and landscape in Sierra Calderona”, by Beatriz Santamarina and Julio Bodí; “Europe’s crossroads. Lights and shades for a common future”, coordinated by Virginia Pardo, and “El Museu del Tèxtil Valencià d’Ontinyent” (Textile Museum of Valencià d’Ontinyent), by Rafa Gil and Marta Berlanga.

At the session, there will be the participation of Esteban Morcillo, principal of Universitat de València; Jorge Hermosilla, Vice-Principal of Territorial Projection and Participation; Beatriz Santamarina, professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Virginia Pardo, professor of the Faculty of Law; and Rafael Gil, professor of the Faculty of Geography and History.

On Wednesday 29th April (19.39h), it will be the turn for the book titled “Memory and oblivion of the MuVIM. Cultural policy, museum and immaterial patrimony” by Román de la Calle. It will count with the participation of Antonio Ariño, Vice-Principal of Culture and Equality ofUniversitat de València; Ricard Huerta, Director of the Creativity Institute of Universitat de València; José Luis Cueto, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts; Amparo Carbonell, an academic of Fine Arts and a full university professor of Sculpture; and Román de Calle, full university professor of Aesthetics of Universitat de València.

And finally, on Thursday 30th April (19.30) time for the novelties of History will take place: “L’assistència sanitària a la ciutat de València durant la Guerra Civil (1936-1939)” (Sanitary assistance to the city of Valencia during the Civil War (1936-1939)”, by Xavier García Ferrandis; “María Cambrils: the awakening of feminist socialism. Biography, texts and contexts (1877-1939)”, edited by Rosa Solbes, Ana Aguado and Joan Miquel Almela; and “Republicans with the monarchy, socialists with the Republic. The Valencian Socialist Federation (1931-1939)”, by Sergio Valero.

The following ones will participate: Javier García Ferrandis, professor of Valencia Catholic University Saint Vincent Martyr; Ana Water, full university professor of Contemporary History of Universitat de València; Sergio Valero, professor of Comparative Education and Education History of Universitat de València; and Vicent Olmos, PUV editor.

Veus literàries (Literary voices)

On the other hand, the Veus literàries, which are organised by the universities of Valencia and Alicante, include a conference on the author Joaquim González-Caturla, who will talk about “The pleasure of narrating with your heart in hand”. It will take place at 11h at the Faculty of Teacher Training of Universitat de València.
