On Wednesday 27th September, on the occasion of the World Tourism Day, the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València will host the second edition of forTur_VLC, 2nd Tourism Forum. It coincides with the day stablished in the calendar of the United Nations to highlight the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism.

forTUR_VLC aims at becoming a reference place in the academic field of tourism for our territory. Its objective is to achieve that students become comfortable with the most important companies and institutions of the touristic field as well as to involve the sector in the most recent research areas.

This second Tourism Forum will be inaugurated by Francesc Colomer, Regional Secretary of the Valencian Office for Tourism; Pilar Moncho, Congresswoman for Tourism; Sandra Gómez López, Councillor for Institutional Relations of the Valencia City Hall; Jorge Hermosilla, Vice-Principal for Territorial  Projection and Participation; and José Manuel Pastor, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València.

The event will be organised in two different spaces, Work Tourism and Think Tourism. It aims at hosting in the same forum researchers, companies, institutions and students interested in the touristic sector. Work Tourism is an exhibition place where public administrations, professional associations, companies and institutions of the sector can introduce themselves and show their work and internship offers.

In turn, Think Tourism, which will be a place for debate, is divided into two aspects: round tables in the morning and focus groups in the evening sessions. The round tables, in which 5 to 6 experts will take part, will be moderated by a professor of the Faculty. These discussions will deal with the big issues that worry the touristic sector. There will be great figures of the political and business field who will speak about the main topic of this year: ethics in tourism and the awareness-raising of the career options of the Tourism studies.

In the evening session there will be work groups that will follow the methodology of the discussion groups. This groups will gather relevant people in a specific topic in order to make an accurate diagnosis that will finish with an exhibition of the challenges that each group must face. The conclusions of the focus group are intended to be the informative raw material to the business decision-making as well as to the development of a touristic policy by the public administrations, which will receive a model of these conclusions.

Moreover, there will be an opening conference about ‘Sustainable Tourism’ since this is the topic suggested by the UNWTO for this year 2017. The closing conference of the forum will deal with the new Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Law of the Valencian Community.

The round tables and the focus groups gather a prestigious group of workers of the touristic sector including Antoni Bernabé (Valencia Tourism Foundation), Joantxo Llantada (Valencian Office for Tourism), Ximo Solá (Valencian Association of Hotels), Josep Vicent Mascarell (Balearia), David Vizcaino (Director Montanejos Tourism Foundation), Daniel Araiz (Valencia Tourism Convention Bureau), Eduardo Aguilar (Sea Saffronpor), Ignacio Rico Cruzado (Sha Wellness Clinic), among others.
