Open registration of Cinema Jove to receive full-length and short films

The International Cinema Festival of Valencia - Cinema Jove already has a set date and will be celebrated between the next 23 June and 1 July of 2017. The call to send full-length and short films is already open to participate in the 32nd edition of this contest.

Are you a young filmmaker and have an audio visual unpublished work? If the answer is yes, you will be surely interested about what is about to happen in the 32nd edition of the International Cinema Festival of Valencia - Cinema Jove, organised by Culture Institute of Valencia - IVAC and recognised by the International Film Producers Associations Federation (FIAPF), which sets the two categories that are included in the contest this year: full-length and short film.

If you are interested in participating in the contest you can send your full-length film, provided that it must not have been premiered in commercial cinemas of Spain nor projected in any Spanish festival

Those movies produced after 1 January 2016 could also participate on the festival . Those that will be viewed by the Selection Committee  must pre-registrate online in www.cinemajove.com and be sent throughout the website of Movibeta before 22 March. The call states that the director must be born after 30 June 1976.

If you are interested in participating in the contest you can send your full-length film, provided that it must not have been premiered in commercial cinemas of Spain nor projected in any Spanish festival. When it comes to short films presented to the contest, they must be inedit as well. In all cases, the presentation of the audio visual works must be in original version with English subtitles. The director must send the  copie sbefore 25 May 2017 of those movies that are selected.

If you think your movie fits the requirements and rules of the contest, do not miss the chance to take part on the contest.  The prize  that can be won by presented movies in the  category of full-length film consists on 40,000 euros.  The prize to the Best Short Film will be 8,000 euros this year.

Long Trajectory

The International Cinema Festival of Valencia - Cinema Jove is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the city of Valencia and is considered one of the most important contests of cinematographic education in Spain. Traditionally, this contest has always been an international meeting point of new filmmakers coming from any corner of the world and it has allowed them to interact throughout talks, workshops and conferences among young filmmakers and public.

In the last edition 'Anna's Life', by director  Nino Basilia, won the prize Luna de Valencia to the Best Full-length Film becuase of the narration of a single mother who decides to move out of America to improve her and her autistic son’s lives.

 

That film make the director get the first award of the contest and win 30,000 euros. Along with 'Anna's life', the audio visual work 'Humidity', by Nikola Ljuca was also important last year. It got a special mention of the jury.

Awards in the 31st Edition of Cinema Jove

  • CIMA award to the best film directed by women: 'Delivery' by Leslie Belot, Thibaut Scalesse, Sophie Blayrat, Huang Kai and Torres Kai. 
  • Welab award for short films of the Valencian Outlook Section with Best Photography went to ‘Graffiti‘by Lluis Quilez Sala.
  • Luna to the Best Webseries: 'Un año sin nosotros' by Fernando Milsztajn and Tian Cartier.
  • Luna to the Best Webseries Direction: 'Un año sin nosotros' by Fernando Milsztajn and Tian Cartier.
  • Luna Public Award: 'Ma Femme est Pasteure‘ by Víctor Costa.
