Presentation

Occupational health and safety are factors related to the conditions and organisation of work (workplaces, materials and products, tools, equipment, movement, ergonomics, workload, etc.) that may cause damage on the health of workers. Occupational risk prevention actions are taken in all phases of business activity in order to eliminate or reduce the presence of these risks.

In Spain, the prevention of occupational risks is mandatory in all companies, regardless of their size, activity and/or public and whether they are public or private (Law 31/1995, RD 39/1997). Spanish legislation establishes that the activities of occupational risk prevention should be carried out by specialists in this area, in collaboration with healthcare specialists (occupational doctors and nurses).

The main objective of this Master’s degree is to enable students to work as Senior Technicians in Occupational Health and Safety and to develop the necessary functions for the prevention of occupational risks in the three specialisations marked by the regulations (Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics and Applied Psycho-Sociology.

The Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety (MUPRL) at the University of Valencia has a duration of two academic years (100 credits minimum) which includes tutored work placements in companies (225 hours minimum).
