Open the registration period for the seminar which can be validated for 2 credits. Tarongers Campus

The seminar Grafiti, Postgrafiti y Street Art: Valencia (Graffiti, Post-graffiti and Street Art: Valencia) focuses mainly on analysing and deepen in the knowledge, activity and existence of graffiti that covers up, even more nowadays, the walls of our cities. We know it is a social phenomenon and what we will try to explain is the link with the city’s everyday life, what are its goals and if it has a place within a society legislatively organised. We will also focus the study on differentiating the terms Graffiti and Post-graffiti, and being able to decipher what Street Art is.

The world of graffiti leads us to know the idiosyncrasy of cultural movements as for example Hip Hop or Punk. The origin of graffiti within marginalised social stratums in metropolis like New York, has it something to do with the present? Did it arise in all countries in the same way? How can be explained that a Japanese graffiti follows the same technique than an American graffiti?...

We must not disengage from the creative phenomena that coexist freely with citizens such as the graffiti and we should not be surprised if they managed to reach the sancta sanctorum of art, Museums, as they are currently doing so.
