The Universitat, autonomic champion in sail and pilota

A long, intense morning which had an excellent result for the Universitat de València, proclaimed autonomic champion of sail yesterday in the Royal Sailor Club of Calpe. This Sailor Club will hold the Spanish University Championship (CEU) from 9 to 12 May supported by the Universitat.

As predicted by the sailing team selector Juan Calvo ─ he expected that the two crews of the Universitat could end up in the Top 3 for a third consecutive year: “We had great level and the truth is that we expected to get to the podium with both ships”.

The Universitat comes back home with its first crew unbeaten and holding the golden medal, the clasification to compete in the CEU as the host of the national university competition.

The winning crew ─which also won the intern competitions─ was commanded by Ramón Portolés, the ship’s master, and were composed by Javier Martínez, Miguel Cebolla, Javier Dusmet and Pau Chirivella. The second ship could not make it until the final and was leaded by Francisco Alcázar (master) and completed by Juan Álex Parlatay, Rosa Contell, Agustín Llopis and Helena Escrivá.

Absolute champions of Valencian pilota
On the other side, the Valencian pilota CADU took place yesterday as well in the Sports Centre of l’Eliana and ended up with the absolute victory of the Universitat de València. That way, the stairs and rope (escala i corda) team with Puchol II, Sala and Manel; Ana Belén, Andrea and Mónica in female scraping (raspall); Sacha, Guillermo and Marcelo were the masculine scraping runners-up.
