PhD programme linked to this Master’s programme: Contemporary Philosophical Thought

Academic, scientific or professional interest: [1] The Master’s Degree in Contemporary Philosophical Thought offers training with philosophical rigour on ideas, concepts, trends of thought and prevailing debates in the contemporary public discourses on philosophy, culture, art, politics, religion, science and technology. [2] The Master’s Degree is open to two perspectives: a training one and a research one. The first is aimed towards encouraging in students the knowledge of the main contemporary problems and debates of philosophical relevance, as well as their understanding on the relationships of Philosophy with different areas of culture and thought. This perspective is of special interest for graduates or licenciados/as in Philosophy, Humanities, History, History of Art, Political Sciences, Sociology, Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, Language Studies, Architecture and Fine Arts. The second one expects, furthermore, to improve the access in optimal conditions, of the students that wish to do so, to the Third Cycle of studies of Philosophy, that is, doctorate studies. [3] Recently, we have renewed the curriculum so that we (a) cover philosophical disciplines previously unattended, such as aesthetics, moral philosophy, and political philosophy; and (b) increase the options in order to ease student organization of studies according to their intellectual interests.
