Amel's story is very particular, a doctor by profession, she lives in a country that is undergoing a very cruel civil war and where the persecution of women's rights has become commonplace. Amel experiences the worst of this reality when she decides to go in search of her partner, Mourad, a journalist critical of the regime. She is joined by a nurse, Khadidja, who fought for the freedom of her people in the Algerian War of Independence
