In 2017, it has classified the best 500 higher education centres in the world (TOP500) in 52 subjects divided into 5 fields: natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences.

According to the published data, the Universitat de València is the first one in Spain in Remote Sensing; the first one, together with the Universitat Politècnica de València in Energy Science and Engineering and the second one in Food Science and Technology. It is also located among the best five universities in Spain in Physics (2-4), Business Administration (2-5), Clinical Medicine (3-5), Biologic Sciences (4) and Scientific and Technological Instrumentation (4-5). In Clinical Medicine, Public Health and Pharmacy, the Valencian institution is rated among the 300 best universities in the world.

Methodology

The universities included in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) have been selected by the amount of research publications in the 2011-2015 period and the bibliometric data has been collected from InCites. The signs analysed in the ranking for each institution are the number of publications in each subject, the number of citations, the international collaboration, the number of works published in high-impact magazines and the number of people that are academically recognised in a subject.
