IJVAR (IGI-Global) – International Journal of Virtual and Augmented Reality – has born, a scientific journal boosted and leaded by the research group ARTEC.
The research group ARTEC has promoted the edition of IJVAR, a new journal focused in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. Leaded by the Editors-in-Chief Prof. Marcos Fernández and Dr. Cristina Portalés, director and senior researcher of ARTEC, respectively, the journal has born with the support of worldwide top-researchers which form part of the Editorial Board. As leading the International Advisory Board, IJVAR has the support of Prof. Roland Azuma, Prof. Mark Billinghurst and Prof. Carolina Cruz-Neira, pioneers in VR and AR.

IJVAR publishes research that focuses both in novel paradigms and in applied research that explores and extends the usage of the technologies of VR and AR. The journal publishes novel and ingenious solutions dealing with real life issues in different areas of knowledge (from engineering to science or arts), including ad-hoc solutions. The journal fosters interdisciplinary applied research and presents a unique forum for novel solutions in the related fields, considering a wide range of techniques that includes e.g. mixed reality, simulation, human-computer interaction, collaborative spaces, multimedia generated contents, etc. IJVAR is designed to provide scholars, practitioners, academicians, and others using virtual and augmented reality technologies, useful studies that might support decision-making activities.
Up to date IJVAR has received many submissions, from which a total of seven have been selected to form part of the first issue, expected to be released in January 2017. The process of submission is now open for the second issue. From ARTEC we encourage everyone to participate!
